Miss Ann Ashard Webb Bequest
Individual researchers and projects may apply to the Centre for East Anglian Studies for a grant from the Miss Ann Ashard Webb Bequest of up to £2000 for projects related to the history of Suffolk. Funding can be used to contribute to both research and publication costs, however projects supported by the Webb Bequest must be directed toward eventual publication.
Applications for grants from the Webb Bequest will be considered by the CEAS Committee twice annually during our autumn and spring meetings. Please submit applications no later than 1 October and 1 March for timely consideration. Exceptionally, CEAS will accept applications submitted by 1 December 2026 for consideration.
Applications should be submitted to m.bernstein@uea.ac.uk and include:
- A 1–2-page description of the project (with attention to the relevance to Suffolk). This should include a brief proposed budget, whether funding is being sought or has been secured from elsewhere, and intended plans for publication.
- CV of the lead applicant or description of the society or organisation applying.
The Committee may request further information if required for a decision to be made.
Successful projects benefitting from these funds must acknowledge in any published material that it has benefitted from ‘the aid of a grant from the Miss Ann Ashard Webb Bequest, administered by the Centre for East Anglian Studies at the University of East Anglia’. Successful applicants should be prepared to present their project at CEAS events if invited, and to keep CEAS apprised of publications which will be catalogued on the website.
